To Prop or Not to Prop

That is the question.

Drama aside, this is an excellent question and one only you can answer through experience.

If you have ever attended a yoga class, it is likely you have seen yoga blocks, straps, bolsters, and blankets around the studio but do you know how to use them effectively in your yoga class to support your body and practice?

In North Lanarkshire, the average age is around 42 and many of those have long-standing injuries or stiffness due to work demands, knee pain from sports in earlier years, hip issues and replacements, problems with the lower back from epidurals during labour or sitting for a long time at work. There are neck/ shoulders ailments from overextending in exercise, poor posture and perhaps bad sleeping habits. The list goes on although I should make it clear these are not issues that affect just 40s and over.

I have students in their 20s with hypermobility issues and bulging discs, and cancer recovery. This workshop is for anyone who wants to enhance their yoga practice in the studio or at home to gently create the space, openness and support your body and mind need to deepen your practice, increase your range of motion and flexibility in a healthy way that allows you to go about your daily task with more ease regardless of your age and current level of fitness.

In this workshop with Valentía Rose - Yoga & Mindfulness, you will learn to confidently utilise the following props during your regular yoga class should you wish to do so:

  • Bolster
  • Yoga blocks
  • Blankets
  • Yoga strap
  • Eye pillow/ mask

Please come dressed comfortably and bring up to 4 other blankets (or towels as an alternative).


The postures in the workshop will be the same postures within your practice after the short break.

Aromatic Yogi has gifted us with one of their scent-sational Yogi mists for each person who signs up for this workshop. You will receive your complimentary mist at the end of your practice.

Please arrive at least 10 minutes before so we can get started promptly at 6 pm.
